Cotabato City – March 12, 2015: The Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) today served more than 800 families in two less served internally displaced person (IDPs) more locally known as “bakwit” in IDP Centers in Barangay Dabenayan and Liab, Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
The relief item composed of six (6) kilograms of rice per family was sourced out by CBCS from its long time peacebuilding partner, the MISEREOR a German based international organization that had been accompanying the peace processes through CBCS and other partners in Mindanao since 2007.

The distribution process was duly coordinated with local government unit of Mamasapano municipality headed by its Mayor Honorable Datu Benzar Ampatuan who was also in the area to launch other programs simultaneous with the actual distribution to the identified beneficiaries.

The actual distribution of the relief goods was formally opened in Liab IDP Center with a brief message by CBCS Tiyakap Kalilintad (Care for Peace) headed by Mike Kulat who said in local dialect to mean: “That the relief assistance is part of the responsibility of every Muslim to help fellow Muslim in times of grief and disasters”. And that CBCS do not expect any return except for “the beneficiaries to show proper conduct and thank Allah” this amidst many instances that relief assistance operations became a source of misunderstanding sometimes within the beneficiaries themselves or between the provider and the beneficiaries. He also apologizes for those who were not able to get their respective CBCS “IDP Cards” and said: “Let us ask more blessing from Allah so that in the near future everybody will be able to benefit.” The beneficiaries and the Barangay Officials of Liab thanked CBCS for the timely assistance.

In Liab IDP Center originally targeted for 297 families but there are actual 317 families served where the excess was served out of the contingencies for the purpose. While in Dabenayan IDP Center for targeted 456 families but served 526 families in the actual distribution with the combined 843 families that benefited the relief assistance.

The orderly distribution of relief assistance in both Liab and Dabenayan IDP Centers were made possible through management of the local Tiyakap Kalilintad Teams headed by Councilor Zukarno Abdul for Liab IDP Center and Donna Dalandas for the Dabenayan IDP Center who came all the way from the municipality of Datu Piang to assist in the distribution. Also present who assisted in the distribution are a dozen Team of the Bangsamoro Communication Network (BCN) – Satellite Chapter of Mamasapano headed by BCON#38 and other members of their team.
